Former Pakistani Prime Minister and current chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) political party, Imran Khan, made a startling statement outside the Lahore High Court (LHC) recently. He expressed concerns that the economic crisis and terrorism may escalate on October 8th and warned that the country may be turned into a Banana Republic without the rule of law.

Khan’s comments came as he was attending a hearing regarding his protective bail in two cases registered against him in the federal capital. The two-member bench of the LHC extended his protective bail and granted him time to submit his response to the cases.
Imran Khan’s Wake-Up Call
During his speech, Khan reminded the public that rulers could do anything if they chose to violate the constitution, citing the example of former military dictator Zia-ul-Haq, who remained in power for 11 years despite promising to hold elections within 90 days of taking control.
Khan also criticized the current government for filing cases against PTI leaders and activists, while ignoring cases against leaders of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), who he claims have 95% of cases filed against them by the previous government. He also mentioned that former Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) Quaid was found guilty in the Panama Papers scandal and that only Shehbaz Sharif was charged during the PTI government.
Khan stated that the Supreme Court (SC) is the last hope for all Pakistanis and that without the rule of law, the country may be turned into a Banana Republic. He also alleged that police broke into his house when he appeared before an Islamabad court, and that no one can justify an attack on a private residence.
Khan’s comments have been widely shared on social media, with many expressing concern over the state of the country and the possibility of worsening economic and security situations. The PTI chief’s supporters have hailed him as a champion of democracy and the rule of law, while his critics have accused him of fear-mongering and promoting his own political agenda. Regardless of where one stands on the issue, there is no denying that Imran Khan’s recent statement has sparked a lot of discussion and debate.
